Loc. 57B Nashawena Island was a WWII AMTB battery site on Nashawena Island in Gonsold MA.

Battery AMTB 933

Constructed in 1943, this battery would have two 90mm guns on concrete bases and two 37mm guns on wooden platforms. Two magazines, a BC Station and Plotting room were all built near the emplacements. A one-story barracks and mess hall were also located on-site among other various support buildings. A dock was built by the army on the island in 1942 and it was destroyed in the September 14th, 1944 hurricane. At the wars end, the guns were removed along with the barracks and mess hall. The BC Station may have remained as late as 1970 but it was most likely removed with the barracks in 1946-47. The magazines remain, although due to their wood construction they have collapsed leaving mounds of dirt and wood timber.
