Safety
Exploring Coastal Defense sites is very dangerous if the person is not well prepared or knowledgeable on the current condition of that site. Being careless around these sites can lead to serious injury or even death. We do not recommend that inexperienced people explore these sites as many are unsafe and are deteriorating rapidly. It is important to know what you are getting into and just make sure to use common sense. If a site is fenced off, it is probably for good reason. I am not a professional explorer, but I do know my way around forts and do proper research regarding their safety. Do not do what I do. New England Defenses or any of our affiliates ARE NOT RESPONSIBLE for INJURY or INFRACTIONS from the exploration of Coastal Defense Sites.

Language
Because many of these coastal fortifications have been abandoned for so many years without supervision, people have taken advantage of these places and "tagged" them with profanity, gore and other disturbing things. It is very hard to capture all the details of a coastal defense site without capturing some profanity in your shots. Due to my lack of knowledge on photoshop, none of the photos are edited or blurred on this site. What you see is what I saw when I was there. This is just the reality of visiting abandoned places.
