Watch Hill FCT and FCs Cottage

Two Fire Control Stations were built at Watch Hill in 1943. One of these stations was a seven story Fire Control Tower with three observation levels and the other structure was a cottage style building with a switchboard. Only one OP at this site was for Narragansett Bay. The lowest level on the Fire Control Tower was designated for Battery 108/Hamilton at Fort Nathanael Greene. The remaining levels in the tower were for Fort H.G. Wright and Camp Hero on Fishers Island and Long Island. Although I am unsure of the date of demolition, the structures here were all removed by 1951. The images below are from circa 1945. Today there are no remains of any military activity on the point but you still can see the old Watch Hill Lighthouse.
